Show All the principal retail merchants of santhern Sanpete met In (Tattle's store Thursday evening for the purpose of organizing a branch of the Merchants Retail Commercial agency of Chicago, IIIsl E. D. Jones stated the object of the meeting. The organization was started nlno years ago In a small town in Iowa It being founded on a principle of right and jnsti;o, it grew steadily until now its membership numbers one hundred and sixty thousand in thirty states and territories and all those not at present organized are now under headway, Washington, Oregon and Utah being rapidly pushed to the front. This agency has been weighed in the balances bal-ances and found not wanting In any of j the qualifications necessary to furnish ' the retail merchants a perfect protective protec-tive system, if after four communications communica-tions have been sent to a man who owes a bill and he still refuses either to pay his bill or go to the merchant and explain ex-plain his reasons for not paying.it Is abstracted in a book which is used by aU the business men as a book of reference ref-erence and when he applies for credit the merchants not only of the town where the bill was contracted bnt in the debtor's new field of operation is posted as to his standing. The merchants mer-chants thus posted, the debtor most pay spot casn for what be buys or eat grass That the objectionable feature of black listing a poor bnt honest man is entirely en-tirely eliminated from the methods employed by this agency or if a man disputes a bill or shows a willingness to do right in regard to his account, he has the right and is requested to appear before onr executive board, and this bodv is bound to act with fairness and Impartiality. The officers of the Sanpete San-pete board are: President, W. T. Reid of Manti; vice-president, vice-president, John Lowry, Sen., of Manti; secretary and treasurer, Alex. Tennant.
