Show States' Debts Increase. In 31 of the 48 states the revenues exceeded the expenditures for governmental govern-mental costs, including interest on indebtedness in-debtedness and outlays for permanent improvements, by ?)0. 102,314, or 71.6 cents per capita. In the remaining 17 the revenues fell below the expenditures expendi-tures by $15,378,240, or 43.8 cents per capita, and in five of these 17 states sufficient revenues were not collected to meet current expenses and , interest. inter-est. Taking the 4S states as v, whole, the excess of revenue over expenditures expendi-tures was $34.S14.00S, or 33.1 cents per capita.
