Show DORFLTNGER WRITES EDITOR Los Angeles, Calif, 11-3-21 Dear Carl: The inclosed should be of some interest in-terest to a Utahan. I clipped it from a recent issue of the Herald. It is a pretty tribute to the little place up there in Mormonland. There was quito a write-up a few days ago regarding the prospective activities of the Union Pacific. It was stated that the line would build down to San Diego and had made preparations to do so very soon. One thing is certain. U. P. will branch out from the Whittier . terminal and ex-1 ex-1 tend i(s rails to Santa Ana and the I adjacent territory for the country is I very productive as you know, and it will profit them to do so, If such articles ar-ticles as these are of interest, let me know and I shall send them on. The Long Beachites are trying hard to get the U. P. to take up its tracks along the water front board-ering board-ering on Ocean avenue. If this is impossible, im-possible, they are going to suggest that all freight trains be detoured around the city. At present these heavy freights are being sent over the old tracks along the ocean and they rumble through the city, in its 1 most beautiful part, and rouso those residents who live nearby and who usually go to bed at nine, just as U. P. signs are replacing those of the Salt Lake, and the activity and enterprise en-terprise of the new owners is evident everywhere. Frankly, competition has taken on a brighter complexion, and those ether lines represented here, have found a worthy rival in the U. P. Is Harry still tapping the linotype? How is the star reporter getting on? Have you finished your house? j Strange what an editor can do. Harding, Hard-ing, you know, is president. Have you such aspirations? Might start a boom in the valley and let me plac-lard plac-lard the highways for you, and then let me be your secretary when you reach Washington as senator from Utah. Not failure, but low aim is crime. With best wishes for your consu-mate consu-mate success, for your continued good health, and your happiness, I remain. re-main. Sincerely CHAS. DORFLIXGER |
