Show TO SPEND $0,000,000 OX U. P. IX LOS ANGELES . The Union Pacific plans to spend $6,000,000 on the construction of new shops and freight yards in Los Angeles. This fact wts brought, to light through filing of an application with the County Supervisors asking that the project to extend Cudahy avenue through to a connecting point with Pasadena avenue he abandoned. Cudahy avenue will, if cut through furnish a short cu' between Pasadena Pasa-dena and nearby points to both Long Beach and the west coast beaches. The secretary of the Long Beach Chamber ot Commerce has protested the proposal to abandon tho present surveyed right of way tor the connecting con-necting of that city with Pasadena and the mountain district through the extension of Cudahy avenue. It is understood that an appeal has been sent to the chambers of commerce of Pasadena. Monrovia. Bell, Maywood and otbcr affected communities to protest, and a storm of disapproval is said to be gathering. The property upon which the Union Un-ion Pacific proposes to build its now $G,000,000-yard and shops consists of approximately 240 acrs belonging belong-ing to the B:ndini estate. It lies just south of the Union Pacific main line east, and just east of Vernon's indus-rkil indus-rkil district. The tract of land is approximately two and one-quarter miles long and only a quarter mile wide. When asked for details as to the Union Pa-jcific's Pa-jcific's plans. General Manager W. H.
