Show RAILROAD MEN LOOKING OVER MILFORDVALLEY Dr. A. C. Boyle Jr. gelogist for the Union Pacific railroad and E. Stac-ey. Stac-ey. assistant engineer of the .'i-egoi Short Line, arrived here Thursday morning to look over the posibili-ties posibili-ties of the Milford valley in regard to the advisibility of bringing farmers far-mers here to settle on our farms. In the forenoon they were taken by Mr. L. R. Fournier, manager of the Telluride Power company, accompanied ac-companied by M. P. Lewis of the Milford Realty company and Karl S. Carlton, up to the Minersville reservoir, reser-voir, where the lake which is full tip to the 47 foot level was greatly admired. Many questions were asked' by the visitors and wonder was expressed as to why more of the water was not conserved and used. They could not understand why valuable water should be allowed to run to waste, while thousands of available arces remained unirrigated. The party returned to Milford for lunch after which they were joined by Drs. Bybee and Hunter and Mr. Cates Jr.. The party then proceeded proceed-ed to Dr. Bybee's ranch which was thoroughly inspected; from there to the river bed, where the soil was examined; ex-amined; then to the Gospill ranch with its vast ricks of alfalfa hay and accompaning herd of Jerseys. The ranch made a very favorable impres-s:on impres-s:on upon the gentlemen. All the ranches out as far as Hay Springs, were viewed and a stop was made at the W. W. Cook ranch to view his water elevation. Here more ques--"; tions were asked. On the return trip a stop was made at the Reisner & Tomsick chicken ranch where a thousand cnickens were paraded for inspection. In the evening the gentlemen were furnished with much information and the logs of many wells by the Weber Brothers, Mr. Cates and Mr. Sloan. Mr. Stacey will report his findings to the Salt Lake office of the railroad and Dr. Boyle will report direct to the Omaha office. From Milford the gentlemen will go to Lund, Cedar City and Parowan where further Investigation will be made. |
