Show BUTTER AND OLEO TESTED I ON RATS; BITTER WINNER WENDELL, Idaho For the purpose pur-pose of (Iem0n.-tia1.in3: the superior food qualities of butter fat over oleomargerine, a unique test,- con sisting of two pairs of rats, in separate sepa-rate cages, one fed butter and the other oleo in connection with their regular rations of the same quality and quantity - otherwise, has been made by the officias olf the Wendell Cream association. The test was begun April S, 1925, with each pairs of rats weighing exactly ex-actly 64 grams. The food fed consisted con-sisted of mixtures of white bread, cereals, muscle mea, potatoes, salt, calcium carbonate, with 10 percent ' butter fat or oleomargerine. The rats fed butter fat gained 700 grams and the pair fed oleomar-gerir.e oleomar-gerir.e weighed 415 grams, gaining enly 351 grams, or approximately 60 per cent as much as the butter-fed pair. |
