Show Lions Luncheon Well Attended i j Wednesday's Lions club luncheon 1 was one of the best attended and most enthusiastic meetings of that body held for sprqc time, and a number num-ber of important matters were up for consideration, among them the north road and the school grounds improvement question. The Cove Fort road was reported to be very rough and badly in need of dragging. As the funds of the club were very low, a subscription was started for the purpose of raising rais-ing money to have the road dragged, drag-ged, and about fifty dollars was promptly given. A man with team will be placed on the job with instruction in-struction to place the road in first class shape. The school grounds improvement committee reported that the ladies had responded w.hole-heartedly and rendered great assistance in securing secur-ing donations for this work, there now being available and obtainable about $500, which it is thought may be enough to do the desired improving. improv-ing. ,It was stated that the Millard county commissioners were willing to co-operate in placing the north road in good .condition , and it was suggested that a committee from the Lions meet with them in October. A drag is to be made and placed on this road, in this county, and it is hoped that passing motorists will hook onto it occasionally and aid in keeping the road leveled. The Lions voted to -.attend the '.Beaver county fair in a body this, Friday, afternoon. Visitors at the luncheon were W. M. White, Geo. A. Trent and T. C. Heaton, in addition to a large turn out of members. |
