Engineers' Union First Formed Back in 1896 The firt union of steam engineers was organized Peooniber 7. 10(5. at St Louis. At the American Federation Federa-tion of La. hor convention in 1SP6 there were in attendance four engineers rep-reenting rep-reenting other trades. They proposed a separate union for engineers and ailed a meeting of engineers In St. I.miis of the same year. The National Meant Knuineers' union was established estab-lished at the meeting. In 1005 the name of the organization was changed to Intertialional Cnlnn of Steam Engineers, Engi-neers, and in 101:1. because of widened Jurisdiction, it was again changed to International Union of Steam and Op-iratlag Op-iratlag Engineers, its present name.
