Show BEAVER COUNTY'S BIG HAY CROP THERE is perhaps no place in the whole wide world with a better crop of alfalfa hay than is being grown in the Minersville and some fields of the project this year. Bishop Marshall stated to the tfws man recently that "many of the Minersville fields this year have produced more hay from the first cutting than from all three cuttings last year. It is the biggest big-gest crop we have ever had." Several project pieces went two tons and better to the acre first cutting. One rancher at Minersville reports more than five tons to the acre first cutting on one piece where the alfalfa was chin high and very thick. It is well that this hay is producing produc-ing so abundantly this year. It will all be needed and will bring good prices later. Loose hay is being delivered at from $10 to $12 per ton just now, but there is every indication that it will be as high next Spring as it was last Spring. One sure way to get a top price for good hay is to feed it to stock. |
