Show MILFORD CHANGES ON AUGUST lst Saloon Men Have Other Business Interests to Assume There will be no one in Mil- ford hunting a job after August 1st because of the fact that the saloons are to close. Every man engaged in the business of dis- pensing the stimulating liquid refreshments has already slaked out some remunerative line of business or a good job. and some of them are already working more at the new em- ployment than at the old. There will be a number of changes made on August 1st, however, that will add to the present fa- cilities and conveniences of other lines of business. The Quirk Drug Company, for instance, is to occupy the brick building build-ing now occupied by the Milford Bar, which ,s one of the best business corners cor-ners in the city. The place will be remodeled and thoroughly equipped as a modern pharmacy and refreshment refresh-ment parlor. The room in the Milford Mil-ford Hotel now occupied by the Quirk Drug Company will be added to the hotel facilities which are already al-ready too small for the fine business enjoyed by this splendid hostlcry, under the popular and efficient management man-agement of Mr. and Mrs. Heber Hanks. The Atkin Hotel, we are informed, will add the present bar room to the dining room of the hotel, thus giving a frontage for this portion of the hotel on Main street. The place will be remodeled to this end and will add light, convenience and comfort to this long established and popular stopping place for regular boarder and transient guest". The Hotel Atkin At-kin will thus enlarge its quarters to take care of an ever growing hotel business. The Mcintosh saloon interests, we are informed, will be transferred to the thriving town of Baker, Nevada, where Mr. Mcintosh has already made extensive investments. It is staged that either the Oxford or the Mcintosh corner will he fitted up as a first class refreshment parlor par-lor for soft drinks, though we have been unable to secure definite information in-formation as to this matter. The Crescent Bar will close, of course, but we have not heard as to what disposition will be made of the vacated room. Several of the saloon men are already al-ready engaged in working profitable mining leases and thus adding to the world's needed metal supply. Others own good farms and will help to add to the world's food supply sup-ply by working their ranches overtime. over-time. There is not a great deal of the stock left on hand at any of the saloons sa-loons and by August 1st, we are informed, in-formed, the shelves will lie vacated entirely. |
