Show SOCIAL ITEMS A CANDY SALE TOMORROW The Camp Fire Girls, an organization organiza-tion composed of sixth grade girls of the grammar school, will hold a candy sale in front of the News office Saturday afternoon (tomorrow), March 10th, to raise a little fund for their work. The girls took a hike to the Montreal mine last Saturday and enjoyed the day very much. They are counting on a number of interesting inter-esting activities the coming season. There are twenty members of the organization. t t t EASTERN STAR MEETING GRAND OFFICERS PRESENT Ruth Chapter No. 6, O. E. S., held its regular meeting Tuesday evening, March 6th, at 8 o'clock. Mrs. Minnie Haslet, Grand Matron, and Mrs. Fannie Fan-nie Wittermore, Grand Lecturer, of the Grand Lodge of the O. E. S. of Utah, made their official visit. After chapter closed a social time was held and a delicious lunch was served. Mr. Ingols acted as toast-master toast-master and was responded to by Mrs. Haslet and Mrs. Wittermore. All departed for their homes at a late hour wishing that the grand officers could meet with them oftener. They left on No. 8 Wednesday for their homes in Ogden, Utah. t t t MRS. KESSLER ENTERTAINS FOR HER SMALL SON In honor of the third birthday of Bobbie Smithson Kessler a pretty little party was arranged at his home in the MacDonald Flats. The date, March 5th, being Inaugural Day, the color scheme was carried out in the red, white and blue decorations. A tempting repast was served, the centerpiece cen-terpiece being a large birthday cake with three small candles of the national na-tional colors. The favors were popcorn pop-corn balls supporting tiny American flags. The little men and women present (future presidential possibilities, possi-bilities, members of the U. S. cabinet and their wives, etc.) were Mildred Nickles, Baby Sloan, Delia Kirk, Helen Bird, Ludean Burns, Delmar Kirk, Betty Pitchforth, Dan and Low Greenwood, Jack, Max, Marion and Catherine McKeon, Ellie MacDonald, Alice Larson, Francis An Sloan and Elinor Sue Kessler. Bobbie received many pretty and useful little tokens. Mrs. Kessler was assisted in entertaining en-tertaining by her mother, Mrs. Dan Smithson, and Mrs. C. F. Swanson. t t t O. E. 8. ENTERTAIN STATE OFFICERS One of the most attractive affairs of the week was a pretty spring luncheon presided over by Mrs. Henry Hen-ry Jefferson at her home Tuesday at 1 o'clock and given in compliment to Mrs. Minnie Haslet, grand matron and Mrs. Fannie Wittermore, grand lecturer of the order of the Eastern Star of Utah. The guestB were seated at a long table decorated with pink and white carnations. Pink carnations were given as favors to the guests. The place cards were laid for the paBt matrons of Ruth Chapter, O. E. S., including the guests of honor. Mrs. H. C. Hunter and Mrs. Geo. Jefferson being out of the city were not present. Those enjoying the afternoon were Mesdames Haslet, Wittemore, J. Williams, J. A. Ingols, Bert Nichols, J. F. Berkhimer, Paul Evans, H. Jefferson. Mrs. Fred Jefferson assisted as-sisted the hostess. |
