Show UNIQUE PLAN TO IMPROVE THE LIBRARY Next Thursday evening at 8:15 the party commences. It is to be an informal entertainment in the high' school gymnasium given for a twofold two-fold purpose, to help increase the size of the library the only one for public use in Milford and also to provide a commendable evening's entertainment for every one regardless regard-less of sex, age, occupation, religious belief or politics. For some time'a movement has been on foot foi the purpose of either eith-er establishing a regular library or increasing the facilities of the hig'u school library and extending its use to the entire public. The latter vat considered the most feasible for the present and a campaign was begun to further that purpose. Many books and sets of books have already been contributed by patriotic patrons of education, and we feel confident that this final effort to increase the library, li-brary, by providing a desirable and highly interesting party for the nominal nom-inal admission of one book, will be successful. The patronage of Mil-ford's Mil-ford's citizens is much desired for the mutual benefit of all. The entertainment is to be characterized char-acterized by many artistic and attractive at-tractive features. Mrs. Hemstreet. with a number of the girls, will present pre-sent two aesthetic dances, which are highly pleasing and popular wherever wher-ever presented. A recent production of this kind by Annette Scho--v z: the high school deserves particular recognition. Other features of the party will be a demonstration of modern dancing, two readings, a couple of glee club selections under the direction of Mr. Morris, a five-minute five-minute talk on "The library as a vital factor in our community life," and games of various kinds and dancing. Particular mention should be made of guessing games to be held, one of which will be as follows: Seventy or eighty book titles will be posted conspicuously and out of that list about twelve will be characterized character-ized by costumes and acting. The individual in-dividual guessing the most titles thus represented will receive a book as a prize. Other games of a similar simi-lar nature will be given. Every person who contributes one or more books at that party or; at other times will be added to the library li-brary honor roll, and the name ot the individual contributing the book will be placed in the front of the volume. The purpose for which the books are to be given is good, and the program pro-gram arranged will be refreshing, so support the movement with some really good books. Let's make it a record event. |
