Show Why Not Save This? Quarter Million Dollars to be Expended Ex-pended Concreting American Desert Milford Route Would Eliminate This Expense. Prompt Action by Local Boosters Vital Necessity Salt Lake papers of the 12th instant contain an account of the proposed action by the American Portland Cement Association, in conjunction with theLiucoln Highway Association, looking to tne cementing of thar- portion por-tion of the Lincoln Highway which crosses the American Desert, west, of Salt Lake. By the adoption of the short-cut route through Milford, as advocated by the local Business Men's Association, a contemplated expenditure expen-diture of over a quarter of a million dollars would be made unnecessary. Iu addition to this saving, autoists would, via the Milford Route, have opportunity to receive repairs, fuel and entertainment atnumeroussmall towns along the entire route, instead of having hav-ing to travel long stretches over a desert country, with no help available in ca9e of accidents or other mishaps. The Business Men's Association should get aCommittee into Salt Lake at the earliest possible moment to confer with the State Kngineer and others interested, inter-ested, and put ihis matter up to them in the right light. The Salt Lake Route officials have pledged their cooperation co-operation in getting this local route put through. |
