Show Good Work Road Improvement to North County Line to be Undertaken by County Commissioners Millard County Starts Ball Rolling Millard County has begun work on her section of the proposed Salt Lake-lilford-Eiy auto route. A letter received re-ceived by D. A. McLease, President if the East Antelope Mining Co., from J. F. Burt, Sec. of the Malone Farmers' Farm-ers' Club, states thatfinal work on the road within the confines of Millard county will be commenced on the 14th, (yesterday) and prosecuted vigorously until the highway is completed to ihe Beaver County line. A brief description of the route which the Millard county folks will follow fol-low may be of interest to those having township maps. From the Antelope Springs, the road comes west to the intersection of sections 2 3-10-11, Township 25. Turning down the township town-ship line which divides sections 10 and 11 at that point, the route follows the section line across TownBhip 25 ana enters Township 26 between sectijns 2 and 3. Thence the road continues down this section line to a point where sections 22-23-26-27 intersect, just opposite Reed. From here it goes west along the section line to the intersection in-tersection of sections 21-22-27 28, al which point Millard county's responsibility responsi-bility eDds. This road will be built as it ought to be built. It has some good road men back of it and will be built right. The Beaver county portion of the present road, angles off toward the north-east, from Milford, crossing sections aud winuing in and out with out any fixed or systematic method. The NEWS is informed that i is the intention of the county commissioners to improve this stretch of road as at present situated, by putting in culverts wuere needed and doing more or less grading. Tnis work is to be marten within ten days and pushed to completion. com-pletion. This promptness is com mendable, but there are many, many people of this end of ihe county, among tuem practical road makers, wno believe be-lieve the commiasieuers will be making a mistake if they undertake to mam-Gain mam-Gain the present, sinuous route to thi iOint where the Millard county roao begins. By continuing the Aiiuaro county route directly down the section une into Township 27, entering uiid way between sections 3 and 4, running the road dowu to a point about two miles east of the rai rond crossing, v.heoce west to the crossing and from thence into Milford, not, only will mileage be saved but a belter road will be the result. It is to be earnestly hoped that Ihe commissioners will adopt the latter route. If the county liasn't the necessary funds to build this route, the money can be raised alon? the route; a considerable amount has already been offered. It is believed be-lieved that this stretch of road can be constructed right at acost of not over $600 and perhans less, and the raising of the necessary money would be a joke. |
