Show UNEVIDA GOLD IS STARTING UP W. C. Ralston, managing director of the Unevida Gold Mining Company, Com-pany, was a recent visitor in Carson, says a Nevada correspondent. The' company controls between three and , four miles of ground along the Car son river, in the vicinity of Empire, and it is the intention to immediately immediate-ly begin extensive work on the recovery re-covery of the values that are contained con-tained in the tailings of the old Brunswick, Merrimac, Vivian and Santiago mills, which treated ores from the Comstock during the palmy days. Millions of dollars were made by the men who occupied these mills and these millions were responsible for the construction of the Virginia & Truckee railway and also for the Palace hotel and many other famous buildings and large business enter-, enter-, .. prises in San Francisco. W. C. Ral-ston, Ral-ston, Sr., is one of the men who was prominently identified with these en-' tcrprises of forty years ago, and now his son, the present director of the i operations that are being undertaken, underta-ken, will endeavor to rework the ores that were ground in his father's mills and recover the values which they were unable to save. According to a statement by Mr. Ralston, there is but little question that more millions will result from the new enterprise., "The values," he said, "according to the samples that have been taken at many points, are very good. The lowest secured was 60 cents per yard, but the general gen-eral average of all samples was $17 per yard." Here the son of his father fath-er hesitated, and then added: "Just state that the general average is $7 per yard. I will not be believed otherwise, oth-erwise, but it is true." The cost of operation will be about 50 cents per yard. A carload of lumber has been delivered de-livered to the company at the site where the first building is to be begun, be-gun, and within three weeks machinery ma-chinery and equipment will be on the ground and work will start immediately. im-mediately. It is the intention of the company to work the ground on a large scale and within a year it Is estimated that between 200 and 300 men will be employed, and three shifts will be worked. At the present pres-ent time workmen are constructing a power line to the property. This company owns large holdings in Beaver county. |
