Show HIGH SCHOOL BOYS DEFEAT TOWN QUINT Showing remarkable improvement since its last game, the high school team succeeded last night in defeating defeat-ing a down town aggregation to the tune of 27 to 18. Spencer Schow's work at forward was stellar in character. He played like a ffa'sh and succeeded in caging five field baskets. While not so high on the scoring end, Captain Stan Tanner played a brilliant and ..unselfish ..un-selfish game and made possible many of the high school baskets. "Clint" Bond jumped into the limelight by caging four field baskets and showing show-ing up well in his position. This larfky acquisition will make a real center, if he continues to improve at his present rate. Merrill Miller at guard was a tower of strength at all times. He played a splendid game and did the most speedy and accurate accur-ate passing of all. At the other guard position'White, Pitchforth and McAllister all showed good promise. For the down-town team Les Cline at guard and Joe Smith at forward did good work. D. Hickman made himself famous by his field basket caged at long range. Sam Cline, Van Hickman and Bert Jorgensen all played fast ball at times, but the down-town fellows lacked unity and practice. -, The refereeing of Mr. Wilkinson was strict and fair. He called numerous num-erous fouls on both sides, but the teams were weak in the tossing de partment and only four points were scored in this way. The high school i boys did not score at all on free throws. The songs and yells of the students stu-dents led by Thelma Tanner were so successful that at one point they had to be stopped by the referee. The line up was as follows: High School Town . Schow f. Smith Tanner (Capt.) f. D. Hickman Bond c. S. Cline Jorgensen Miller . g. , L. Cline White g. V. Hickman Pitchforth Jorgensen McAlister Referee Wilkinson. Timekeeper and scorer Wells. |
