Show COMMENCEMENT EXERCISES On Thursday night occurred the first high school commencement exercises ex-ercises in Beaver county. There was a large audience present, lhow-ing lhow-ing the interest taken by the townspeople towns-people in the school affairs and In the graduates thS'niselves. First on the program was the overture ov-erture by the high school orchestra, which was much enjoyed, and Miss Juanita Miller gave the salutatory. The address to the graduates was given by Prof. N. A. Pederson of the Utah agricultural college. It was a most timely and interesting talk. His aim was to make these young people just starting out in life realize real-ize that more will be required of them than was required of their parents, par-ents, that what was a good education educa-tion a few years ago will not answer ans-wer now. if they expect to rise in the world, and he urged them not to be contented with the first job offered them and settle down at maybe sixty or seventy dollars a month. Miss Mayme Schow delivered the valedictory, and W. J. Burns for the school board presented diplomas to the following as having finished the high school course: Mabel Davidson. William Fotheringham. Juanita Miller.' Leht Pitchforth. Mayme Schow , Spencer Schow Leo White. ' The closing number on the program pro-gram was a selection by the high school orchestra, after which all went down to the gymnasium to spend a few hours in dancing. |
