Show Housing Shortage Being Investigated J. A. Fouts, Utah housing representative rep-resentative for the office of administrator, ad-ministrator, National Housing agency, spent Saturday afternoon and evening of last week in Milford, Mil-ford, making a survey of Milford with a view to qualifying as a critical housing area. The visit of Mr. Fouts came as a result of letters sent by the Milford Mil-ford Lions club and Town Board of Trustees to members of the Utah congressional delegation, asking that something be done to relieve the acute housing shortage short-age in Milford, a condition which continues to get worse as the Union Pacific adds to its local forces and additional mining de velopment becomes evident. Mr. Fouts, who came here from ! Kansas City,' Missouri, head-1 head-1 quarters for Region 7 of the Na- tional Housing agency, found con-' con-' ditions here every bit as critical ' as the letters had set forth. In- terviews with representative citizens citi-zens and a tour of the community i in company with the president and . secretary of the Lions club, appeared ap-peared to convince him of the need for a large number of housing units and of the great need for speed. Before leaving Milford, Mr. Fouts had an appointment for a ! conference with J. Vera Rochek, 1 assistant division superintendent ! f or the Union Pacific railroad; to .be followed by further conferences ! upstate with representatives of the j railroad and the regional man-1 man-1 power commission. Not until all i available information has been : compiled will there be made any i recommendations as to designation as a "critical area" or the number , of housing units to be authorized. : v |
