Show UP ATHLETIC CLUB CALLS BALL PLAYERS FOR PRACTICE SESSIONS APPOINTS ATHLETIC BOARD;' CRGES PLANNED PLAY FOR MILFORD YOUNGSTERS The Union Pacific Athletic Club i.is issued a call to all ball players fo gather at the Fair Grounds at r, o'cloc'; next Monday evening, May 6, for preliminary warm-up and loosening up activities. The club expects to enter two or more softball teams in the city leagues to be organized, and will field a hard-ball team to "take on all corners" from Southern Utah communities. com-munities. The club expects to assist in forming a Southern Utah hardball loop. The new athletic committee of the club, selected at their meeting 'n the Milford Hotel clubrooms 'ast Monday evening, is composed of Doris Limb, Zeke Hickman. Mrs. Carden, Mrs. Ruth McCulley as secretary and treasurer, S. A Williams and High School Coach E. D. Hone, president of the group Tentative plans are being worked out for the athletic club to sponsor spon-sor a full-scale recreation program for the summer months, which should include an over-all program director, supervising the various tennis, swimming, baseball and other activities. The club would again operate the swimming pool owned by the town, with employment employ-ment of a pool director, and returning re-turning 'to the town any surplus monies collected from pool admissions admis-sions after payment of expenses. In 1945 $118 was returned to the town from pool profits. |
