Show I FOUR H CLUBBERS CLICK IN SECOND I ANNUAL MINERSVILLE STOCK SHOW S Minersville again scored an outstanding- accomplishment with their second annual beef cattle show held last Saturday April 6. Fifty-seven animals were exhibited with most of I them from Minersville. Outside exhibitors were the Yardley j brothers from Beaver and Hal Parker from Joseph. Wallace Ira and Roy Yardley j showed their outstanding young hull Mark Donald 57th, to the grand championship of the show. This animal was purchased by the Yard-leys Yard-leys as a calf from Herbert Chandler Chand-ler o Baker, Oregon, for $1000. The Chandler Herefords are well known throughout the nation and Mark Donald 57 is living up to the reputation repu-tation established by his famous herd. His sire, Mark Donald, is a notorious show bull and has ! been acclaimed grand champion at three of the larger shows. Grand Champion Female of the j show was exhibited by Noel Wood, a Minersville 4-H Club boy. This is the second such honor to come to this excellent cow. Last year she was also named grand champion cham-pion female at the Southern Utah Livestock Show held at Cedar City. Stiff competition was had in the range bull classes. Major George Henderson, the judge, said it was one of the best exhibits of range bulls he has seen in the state. In the system of grading used, B is considered an excellent range j bull. A-iroa!.- vrzikig A are sires i , suitable fi,r usSc in roistered nerds. At the Minersville show only one bull graded B-minus, five ' graded B, 13 B-plus and five B-doubie plus. First place winners in the range bull classes were Clinton Thompson Thomp-son in the aged bull class, Hal Parker in the two-year-old class, Eyre and Woods in the yearling . class, Kent Carter, a 4-H Club boy, in the 6 to 12 months old calf class, and Rulon Eyre in the calf class under 6 months. In the female and fat steer divisions divi-sions the 4-H Club boys had their own way, winning all the top honors. Noel Wood's cow and long yearling heifer, a mother and daughter, won in their respective classes. Gilbert Yardley, from Beaver, showed his heifer calf to top honors in the class under six months. Vern Wood showed the prize steer which Major Henderson Hender-son said "was good enough to go into any show." Delicious beef sandwiches, pie, j ice cream and drinks were served Jj during the show by the Minersville :', Ward Relief Society. Other rec-k rec-k reational events were conducted r , by the ward in the evening. Minersville cattlemen are to be j complimented on the great im- provement made in their range , bulls. All bulls in the community .) have now been graded and only ' two rate lower than B. In 1944, 1 when the first grading was done, I 50 per cent of the bulls graded I lower than B. This is convincing I evidence of the progressive atti-I atti-I tude taken by these stockmen. |
