Show With the Colois From Sgt. iGordon W. Murdock Geiger Field, Washington, May 25, 1942. Dear Mr. Williams: Just a short note to notify you-i that my address has been changed again. It seems that I no more than get settled than some change is made. Since coming to Geiger field last Jone, I have been in six different bombardment squadrons without once applying for a transfer. . I have watched Geiger field grow from a mudhole to a very large base. When I moved onto this field (then Sunset field) there were only about 25 men stationed sta-tioned here; now, well, it's just a military secret. However, I feel that Geiger is in part "my baby," and I have been here as long as anyone on the field, with only 12 exceptions, and they are moving out somewhere! I am still in group headquarters, headquar-ters, doing "my share" on a typewriter. type-writer. This personnel work is very interesting and most essential. essen-tial. As I once told you, I am a pay clerk, now head of section, and if some circumstance arises whereby where-by a man cannot be paid, believe me, I hear more swear words in two minutes than a blacksmith could utter' in a year. The weather: (Sh , it's also a secret!) Rain, wind, sun and calm just about like in Milford. If anyone in my old home town feels like circulating a rumor, here is one that won't hurt anything: "The 698th Underground Balloon Corps is moving from Jigger field on the 20th of May and June for the Sahara desert to undergo some extensive training in anti-submarine combat principles and mess-kit mess-kit repairs." A very un-funny thing happened here last last evening: a saboteur blew up the hangar with bubble gum! I mnst go back to work now Sundays are no different than any others. Thanks again for sending The News. It's a great morale lifter to hear about you-all in Milford. Keep 'Em Flying! G. W. MURDOCK (Recently promoted to staff sergeant.) ser-geant.) Hq. & Hq.
