Show 3rd Boy Reported 'Missing In Action' Last week The News told of "missing in action" word having been received by relatives of two Minersville soldiers, George Erick-son Erick-son and Corporal Royle Wood, who are believed to have been on duty at one of the Manila bay forts, probably on Corregidor island, when those last bastions of organized orga-nized defense in the Philippines fell to the Japs. This week similar word was received re-ceived by Mr. and Mrs. Roy Clothier Clo-thier concerning their son, Maurice E. Clothier, 20, another of the four Minersville boys on duty in the Philippines. Enlisting in the United States army on November 24, 1940, Private Pri-vate Clothier was stationed at Angel Island, California, where he remained until January 27, 1941, when he was transferred to the Philippine Islands. He served with the coast artillery artil-lery in the Philippines, and, according ac-cording to word received from him during the past November, he had become a second cook. His parents last heard from him in March when he sent a letter let-ter saying that he was "safe and well." 'Private Clothier was born on December 2, 1921. Besides his parents he has four sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Guss Mulleneux and Mrs. LaMar Corbridge of Los Angeles, California; Mrs. Harold ! Jameson of Kimberly, Nevada; i Miss Audre Clothier of Miners- ville;, T. L. Clothier of Delta and W. F. Clothier of Cedar City. |
