Show Eight Men Called To Complete Quota I Eight Beaver county young ! men, all but one of whom are from ! Beaver, have been selected by Beaver, have been selected to fill the current call for men under un-der the selective service act. To fill the quota, it has been neces- sary to take men from three different dif-ferent registrations, three coming from the first registration of men between the ages of 21 and 36, one from those turning 21 within some eight months thereafter, and. four from those of the third registration registra-tion (the 20- and 21-year olds and those between 35 and 45 years.) At least one of the eight men now i called, Wells C. T-l 0,024 .George Eldon Boy-1 ter, Beaver T-l 0,058 David Eldon Thomas, Beaver This second call for men in June was expected to serve for July, according to previous announcement, an-nouncement, but latest unofficial word from Salt Lake City is that there will yet be a July call for a reduced quota. These eight men are called to leave Beaver on a special bus the morning of Thursday, June 25, aid will arrive at-Fort Douglas at 3 o'clock that afternoon. Those passing the army examination will be sworn into the service on a reserve re-serve basis and will be given a 14-day furlough to return home and close up their personal and business affairs, following which they will return upstate to undergo under-go the regular army processing routine. Those not passing the examination ex-amination will be given deferred classifications. This is in accordance accord-ance with new regulations which make it unnecessary for a selectee to give up his job or otherwise "prepare too definitely for induction induc-tion while there is a possibility he may be rejected. In accordance with this change, it is suggested that farewell parties and other similar activities be deferred until some time during the furlough period. |
