Show CONSERVATION OF MILFORD FARM LANDS IS SOUGHT A public hearing to determine local sentiment regarding the establishment es-tablishment of a soil conservation district at Milford will be held on August 9 at 8 p. m. in the Community Com-munity Club House at South Milford. Mil-ford. This hearing is the result of a petition to the Utah State Soil Conservation Committee signed by Milford farmers and favoring the district. Besides determining the desirability, desira-bility, necessity and propriety of the proposed district, definite boundaries will also be considered, according to County Agent Hyrum Steffen. Roy Walker, state conservationist con-servationist with the soil conservation conserva-tion service, will attend the hearing. hear-ing. Commissioner Vernal Berge-son Berge-son from the state department of agriculture will very likely also be present, according to Mr. Steffen. This is the second attempt by Milford farmers to include their land within a soil conservation district. dis-trict. The first effort was made in March, 1944, at which time it was proposed to include the Milford farming area within the Minersville Miners-ville district, which had already been established. Following the hearing, the state committee decided de-cided that sentiment was not yet favorable enough to justify action. Mr. Steffen urges all land owners or renters in the Milford section to attend the new hearing so that any action taken will be a true reflection reflec-tion of local desires. |
