Show 8MINERSVILLE By MRS. LILLIAN McKNIGHl A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Mathews on Tuesday, May 14, at the Cedar City hospital. The Junior girls' "Rose Festival," held Tuesday night, was voted a success by all attending. The dinner, din-ner, served on flower-decked tables, was prepared by the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Each girl was presented pre-sented a corsage of sweetpeas and bridalwreath. The evening was completed by a program. The Junior Girls from Beaver sang two numbers, a horn solo was given by Jean Heffner of Beaver.x Carol Myers of Minersville tap danced, Miss LaDawne Muncey of Milford sang "An Irish Lullaby," and the Minersville. girls sang "Roses of Piccardy." Following the program the girls enjoyed several sev-eral dance mixers. Mrs. I. N. Nolder has been home from California for a short visit with her children here. Fred Pryor, who is just out of the service, and his wife also were here but are at Hyrum, Utah. Mr. and Mrs. Vern Rollins are in Salt Lake this week, where Mrs. Rollins is receiving medical care. Lorraine Dotson has opened a general merchandise store in the building formerly occupied by the G. W. Carter grocery store. Mr. Carter has moved across the street to -the Hubert Eyre building. Friday is Minersvile's birthday. In the afternoon the old people will be feted at a dinner. In the evening there will be a dance for the public. Warren Gray, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Gray, is home from the navy, released after having spent the past two years in the Pacific area. Mr. and Mrs. Warren Hall were called to California suddenly by the death of Mr. Hall's sister, Mrs. Herrick McQuarry, of Compton. They were driven down by Val Marshall. Clarence Corbridge is convalescing convalesc-ing at his home after undergoing an operation in Salt Lake. The Mother's Day program, held I Sunday, was very well presented by various young people of the ward. At the close of the program, each mother present was given a beautiful beau-tiful flowering plant. Mother's Day guests at the Sidney Sid-ney Carter home were Mr. and Mrs Truman Rollins and Mr. and Mrs Neil Carter and families of ' .' UTr nd Mrs. Le- eeaar '-i, - - land Dalley and family of bt. George. Shirley and Keith Hollingshead entertained in honor of their parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Hollingshead, Hollings-head, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Fother-ingham Fother-ingham and Mr. and Mrs. Ephraim Mecham, grandparents of Mrs. Hollingshead. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Mecham ol Roosevelt were guests of Mr. anc Mrs. Fphraim Mecham recently. |
