Erickson, soil specialist in the employ of the U. S. bureau of soils, who was then in Brownville, Texas, but had spent a year in this section; also a somewhat similar statement by Chester G. Haskell, who had in 1929 left a position as senior irrigation engineer with the same department to take up the development of property he had acquired in this section. Mrs. George Litchfield, Mrs. Meloher, Miss Ida Crawford ana Miss Myrtle Horton had entertained entertain-ed at a bridal shower at the Litchfield Litch-field home in honor of Mrs. Jennie Edwards. Atkin giving a lec-! ture on Klu Klux Klanism, anuj Des Hickman and daugh'.er giving I a saxophone and piano duet. Mrs. D. X. Hickman had entertained enter-tained in honor of her husband's birthday. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kinney, Mr. ana Mrs. Ross Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith, Mrs. M. E. Hickman and Mrs. Stella Hickman. Word had been received that a son had arrived at th home of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Siewert of Wilmington, Wil-mington, California, March 17. The Siewerts were former residents resi-dents of Milford. Rebekah lodge had held an installation in-stallation with the following candidates can-didates being admitted into the degree: de-gree: Mr. Clifford, Miss Lapriel Clements and O. F. Hubbell. During a severe snow storm a Ford roadster driven by Alex Ross, and occupied by Karl S. Carlton and Asa Griffiths, was turned completely over into the high line canal near the Demonstration Demon-stration farm. The car was traveling travel-ing only alxut 5 or 6 miles an hour at the time of the accideni and no one was hurt but the car was badly wrecked. The Martin garage had received a carload of new Star cars and Edna Ferguson had won a $) prize for the best essay on this make of car with ihe following others being awarded prizes (f $1 down to 50 cents: Clyde Orwin, William Cochrane, Leroy Van-Wormer, Van-Wormer, Paulino Van Wormer. Charles McCulley, Beth Waddoups and Mark Waddoups. I. F. Daniels had sold his residence resi-dence property on north Main street to Mrs. Rachel Jefferson. Charles Baxter had been called to his homo at Grand Island, Nebraska, Ne-braska, tn account of the death ot : his father. Tho Reverend R. D. Zook and family were getting nicely settled in the new parsonage which had been moved from the mountain to tho valley anl was now a beautiful home of comfort. The next move tho Methodist people were looking forward to, tho taper said, was tho new community hall. They expected plans to materialize soon whereiby they might go ahead with this much-needed plny-house for young and old, besides being a handy place for ull clean social life, meetings and entertainment. |
