Title to this ground was vested; in Beaver coun y until two weeks ag", when it was sold to Milford town for this purpo.-e. S. W. Johnson, John-son, local civil and mining engineer, engi-neer, was on the j"b surveying the area, and Wednesday morning the necessary markers were in place. It was then that the dynamic dy-namic energy of this man Kirk became evident. By midafternoon the regulation size race track hail taken proper f. Tin and the area inside the race track was well on the way to being cleared and leveled lev-eled and the street ralleling the park on the west was beginning to assume standard width ami contour. Mr. Kirk is chairman of the parks and playg-f umfs committee of the Milford town board of trustees trus-tees and it as such that he has been proceeding with this work, in which he has been able to secure heartv cooperation from various other agencies to make such a shewing possible. On Friday, April 13, however, the people of the entire Milford valley will be given an opportunity to turn cut en masse and bring very near to completion this project pro-ject which will mean so much to the whole valley and the entire county, for that matter for it is thus expected to place the project in shape for one r more race and rodeo events this summer and the county fair of 1939. That day will be declared a h.li-day h.li-day and every man and boy in the town and valley will be expecteu to make his appearance on the project at 8 o'ekek, a.m., prepare a to put in a hard day's work. The farmers of the valley have promised prom-ised to furnish teams anil other equipment and townspeople will be expected to furnish other tools in accordance with plans to be worked work-ed out later. The general committee consists of D. E. Kirk, L. A. Wynaught, F. R. Gaines, J. C. Smith and E. R. Moody. Other committees have been appointed and their personnel and further plans for the big day-will day-will he announced in next week's paper and by means -of handbills. But, right now, mark Friday. j April 15, as a red-letter day in Milford's new era of "getting things done!" |
