Beaver nipped the first blood with a foul marker when the game was 5 seconds old, and Milford evened it up a couple of seconds later. Each side tallied two foul shots and one counter from the floor during the first quarter. As soon as the rest period was over the Tigers went to work and didn't let up until they ran out oi steam two minutes before the final gun. They led 13-10 at the half, and 20-16 at the three-quarters mark. Had Coach Hone been able to rest his pay-off men with substitutions, substi-tutions, Milford would have chalked up their first win of the season. Tex Marshall and Jack Carter Car-ter were their usual eagle-eyed selves, with Tex hitting the win column for 8 points and Carter tallying 9 to lead the Milford scorers. Little "Rabbit" Reese scurried up and down the floor for the full four periods, getting into every play and breaking up many, many, Beaver set-ups. McDonald accounted for four of the counters, and Wilden Carter added the other 2, a field goal. On the Beaver scoreboard, Man-zione Man-zione continued to lead the East-county East-county scorers with 12 tallies, followed fol-lowed by sharp-shooting Heppler with 8. McMullen added 5, Black-ner Black-ner 3, and Lindsey and Hollings-head Hollings-head each made good a foul shot. Bartholomew and Gordon turned in a good job of officiating. The Tigers journey to Delta 'for a return match with the Rabbits on February 22, and play Hinckley on the 20th. |
