Having complied with the Utah state initiative petition law by securing se-curing in excess of 25,000 signers from 15 counties, each signature witnessed by a notary public, officers of-ficers of the Peoples' Dental league believe that the issue of per- I mitting dentists to advertise their j services will be placed on the November No-vember ballot. County clerks of the following counties have completed the checking check-ing of voters and have filed them with Secretary of State Welling: Salt Lake, Rich, Wasatch, Morgan, San Juan, Davis, Wayne, Kane, Garfield, Duchesne, Iron, Cache, Utah, Boxelder and Daggett. Counties in which signatures r have been obtained and have been filed, but which have not yet transmitted trans-mitted petitions to the secretary of state, as as follows: Summit, Weber and Millard. Mrs. W. L. Withers, secretary of the Peoples' Dental league, issued! .' the following statement Wednesday: Wednes-day: "We have now finished the work of getting signatures in accordance with both the letter and the spirit of the law. So-called withdrawal , documents w'hich were not acknow-j acknow-j ledged by notary public have no ef-I ef-I feet and are illegal. If opponents to this measure were confident, I most certainly they would be as anxious and willing to have the I matter settled by the vote of all the people as are we,. "We contend that it is not only ethical to advertise dental care but in truth it is a solemn duty of the dentists.. It must be remembered all the while that a dentist pro-I pro-I vides the patient with the material ! and mechanical services as well as I other services. The dentist is a ' force for dental hygiene and he I most certainly should be allowed to advertise to the people who are in need of. his services. Group prac-' prac-' tice has ever been a boon to the' 'public- It cannot exist without volume and volume ' can- only be obtained by truthful, honest adve. Using backed up by good service. |
