One day he was sitting on the roof i of the barn watching the waters of I a flood swirl past him. j A gloomy neighbor rowed over to I his perch. "Hallo, Ted!" groaned the neighbor. neigh-bor. "All your hens washed away this morning?" "Yes," replied the farmer cheerfully; cheer-fully; "but the ducks can swim, you know." "Ah, but the apple trees and all that are gone, aren't they?" '"iies," admitted Ted; "but the crop would have been a failure, anyway." "I see," persisted the neighbor, "that the water is over your windows." win-dows."
