Show HITLER SEEKS PLANNED ECONOMY If Germany wins the war, it is Hitler's plan to make a customs union of Europe, with complete financial and economic econ-omic control centered in Berlin. Not one of the smaller and independent nations which have been smothered by Germany Ger-many will have anything to say about the control of its own financial or economical system or of its customs. Accordinn to important European economists, Germany's plan will create at once the largest free-trade area and the largest planned economy in the world. In western Europe alone, excluding Russia, there will be an economic unity of A 00,000,000 persons, to which will be added the resources of the British, French, Dutch and Belgian empires which will be pooled in the name of Europa Germanica. The Germans count upon political power only after gaining gain-ing economic power. Changes in territory do not concern them because there will be no France or England, except as language groups. It is predicted that the Belgian king will be put back on his throne, and may be rewarded with the throne of Holland. Mussolini and King Victor Emmanuel may remain in nominal control of Italy, but the real power in Europe, including full control of financial systems and customs, will be in the hands of Nazis. It is Hitler's plan to conquer South America by business agents rather than by guns. Inasmuch as the chief market of South America has been Europe, the Germans count on the breakdown of the western hemisphere policy. As far as the United States is concerned, the planners of the World Germanica have laughed off the idea of any armed invasion. They say it will be completely unnecessary to take military action against the United . States, also that Anlerica can be forced to take part in the system because there will be no other foreign markets for the raw materials and agricultural products of the United States, since they can hardly be all sold in the Western Hemisphere. All this, of course, if Germany Ger-many wins. But the war is not over yet, and Germany's plans may have to be completely revised. Scottish Rite News Bureau. M |
