Plans for an invitation dance and supper to be held February 3, 1931 were perfected at a meeting of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Tuesday night a the I.O.O.F. hall. The affair was invitational and was followed by the initiation of .sixteen new members which took place preceeding the dance. At the dance the engagment of a member and a popular local girl was announced. an-nounced. Commander La Mar Out-::rn Out-::rn presided ac the meeting. Milford High School basket ball team was defeated by Minersville last Friday night 11 to 21 played in the local gymnasium. Mrs. Charles Sportsman entei. tained her club, The Big Four, last Wednesday evening. Bridge was played. Those present were Mrs. R. Mal-strom, Mal-strom, Mrs. O. Melcher, Mrs. Earl Gleason, Mrs. W. Moore, Mrs. B. Ifutchins, Mrs. J. Jeffers, Mrs. John Hanlon, Mrs. Joe Hanlon High score for honors was won by Mrs. Hutchins, for points by Mrs John Hanlon. A hot tamale supper was served at midnight. Mildred Nichols of Salt Lak3 Ciy arrived here Monday to spend the week visiting with her father Herb Nichols of this city. Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Pool accompanied accom-panied by C. Beasley, manager of the J. C. Penney store at Cedar H'ill leave Friday for Los Angeles, where they will attend the convention conven-tion of Penney stores manager. They plan on remaining about a week. Three vital and far reaching steps by the United State Government Govern-ment lookin toward restoration of silver and world trade equalization are expected to be submitted to oongress in the report of the Pitt-committee, Pitt-committee, according to unofficial, but reliable information obtained by the Salt Lake Mining and Legal News. The Pittman sub-committee which has been holding hearings over the country in its investigation of the dump in world trade, particularly with reference to its relation to declining de-clining prices in silver, is said to have outlined a report to be submitted sub-mitted to the Senate, in which, it is understood, three important steps to be taken by the United States Gove-ernment Gove-ernment may be recommended. The three steps to be taken, according ac-cording to information obtained by the Mining and Legal News, including includ-ing the following: First Diplomatic efforts to induce in-duce Great Britian to suspend her present policy in India. Second Joint loan of silver to China by Geart Britian, France, Japan, Belgium and the United States. Third Establishment of an international in-ternational commission to arbitrarily arbitra-rily establish a price on silver for the settling of world trade balances. |
