Show . . Plans Underway For Big Banquet Word comes from Beaver of excellent ex-cellent progress being made with plans for the entertainment of 400 or more fathers and sons of Beaver Bea-ver county at a grand banquet scheduled for Monday evening, March 11, at 7:30 o'clock at the Beaver high school. A feature of the banquet will be the serving of roast venison, made possible for the occasion through cooperation of the state fish and game department, depart-ment, the supply coming from the herds of deer which have been wintering win-tering and wintering well on the haystacks of farmers living on the outskirts of Beaver. The banquet is one of many such affairs held throughout the state, and, while all plans are being made by the Beaver district organization orga-nization of the Boy Scouts of America and funds realized will be retained by the Boy Scout organization organi-zation for district expenses, the affair af-fair is planned as a great rally event for all fathers and sons of the county. From Milford there will be 60 to 75 fathers and sons participating, according to the present outlook, and local people are also being (Continued on last page) Fathers', Sons' Banquet (Continued from first page) asked to supply parts on the program. pro-gram. Several Milford fathers, because of the irregularity of their duties for the railroad, are more or less uncertain of being able to accompany their boys except at great financial sacrifice, so are busying themselves with lining up "temporary dads" in case they cannot go themselves. While there are a number of men who do not have sons or whose youngsters are a bit too young to go, who are willing will-ing even anxious to "adopt" a lad for the occasion, no father should pass up the opportunity of going and taking his son or sons along unless circumstances absolutely prevent. And it's going to take a mighty good excuse on the part of the dad to make things right with the son who is deprived of the thrill of sitting by the side of his dad at such a gathering of hundreds hun-dreds of other dads and sons! There is no age limit for the occasion oc-casion and a prize is to be given to the father with the most sons accompanying him. In many cases two and three generations are expected ex-pected to be present. Inasmuch as the burden of transportation falls on Milford anaS Minersville this year, the providing of the food, its preparation and service, and other details are being taken care of by Beaver people this year, with the idea that the banquet will become an annual affair, with' the place of holding it together with the work and expense attached to be rotated among the other towns of the county. |
