Show Milfbrd's "Little Bingham" Shipping Three Cars a Week Shipping three railroad cars cf ore last week and aiming to keep to this rate of production, the Old Hickory mine, only power shovel operated mine in southern Utah and fast coming to be known as "Utah's Little Bingham," is surprising sur-prising native and outside mining men alike with the progress being made. Wjhat is perhaps more important, im-portant, the copper-silver-gold values of this long-idle property, located about six miles northwest of Milford, are holding up well, the last cf 16 cars, shipped thus far netting the Prosper Mining people some $550, according to Edward Schoo, manager. The analysis an-alysis sheet shows the following values per ton: Gold, .045 oz.; silver, sil-ver, 4.95 oz.; copper 7.63. This car was taken out in one and a half days following a period while the crew opened another face for the shovel. This face is said to be locking very good and values are being found to increase slightly as depth is increased. The monthly payroll of this mine now amounts to more than $1000 a month and this will be increased in-creased as conditions justify. This does not take account of the several sev-eral development leases which are being worked, two of these having brought their operators good returns re-turns Railroad freight payments have amounted to more than $2000 and the item of fuel for shovel, trucks and compressor, all brand ! new ecruipment also amounts to a considerable sum. John VanDyke, who holds a considerable con-siderable interest in the Prosper Mining company, operating the Old Hickory, arrived in Milford this week from Michigan and is assisting with local operations. |
