Show Burbank Camp Wins Ballgame In a free-hitting game in which the lead changed hands several timies, the Burbank CCC team defeated de-feated the Milford All-stars by a score of 15-11. An anniversary crowd watched the game, cheering imlpartially. Williams hit safely to start the game for Milford. "Buck" Lam-phere, Lam-phere, the Milford pitcher, got on fine and Hatch scored three runs with his close foul-line homer. This feat was duplicated in the second half of the same inning with Marrison batting in Rucker and Pietrzak. At the end of the second inning, the visitors were ahead, 8-4. In the first of the fifth, the visitors added to their lead with an 11-4, count, but Burbank would not be denied and unleashed a barrage of 11 runs to win handily. The si'rh and seventh innings were scoreless. score-less. Batteries for Milford were Williams Wil-liams and Lamphere, the latter yielding to T. Mastros. For Burbank Bur-bank the battery was Murdock and Spurlock, yielding to Rucker. A humorous incident was a double home-run by Piefcrzak in the fifth inning after repeated fouls over the third base line which ran the opposing third baseman ragged. Nels "Swede" Johnson of Milford Mil-ford officiated as umpire and is said to have given complete satisfaction, satis-faction, not a single complaint having been registered. Milford fellows who made the trip were Forrest Lamphere, Nolan No-lan Williams, Douglas Kirk, Rud James, Jim Brennan, Harry Jefferson, Jef-ferson, Joe Baranski, Jim Patterson, Patter-son, Frank Thompson, Tom Mastros, Mas-tros, Thorpe Waddingham and D. M. Hatch. |
