Show Lions and Ladies To Help Celebrate CCC Anniversary Invitation for all Lions and their ladies to join Sunday in celebrating celebrat-ing the 7th anniversity of the establishment of the Civilian Conservation Con-servation corps was enthusiastically enthusiastic-ally received by the club members Wednesday evening at the regular j semi-monthly meeting of the club. J The invitation, signed by Stanley M. Walker, company commander, and Clyde Tervort, camp super-' super-' intendent at Milford, was similar to that extended to other organi- zations and individuals of the county and it is "hoped that there will be a good turnout of citizens to view the local camp and what it has been doing in the way of j improving the public domain now administered under by the grazing service. The local celebration will consist con-sist of a softball game and a tour of the camp, to be conducted conduct-ed simultaneously, beginning at 10 o'clock in the morning. Dinner will be served to everybody at 12:30 and following this a tour of some of the nearby projects on which work has been done will be conducted, the tour coming to an end at Rock Corral Recreational center, to which area an excellent road has been built by this camp. Further improvements are contemplated contem-plated in exchange for an easement ease-ment to the use of surplus waters for stock-watering development purposes, title to the nice stream of water located there having been purchased some time go by the Lions club. A short program and other activities will feature the gathering at the park. Lion President Moody, who presided pre-sided at the meeting, asked for suggestions as to the naming of a chairman of the delegation of Milford Mil-ford Lions who will attend the district dis-trict convention at Pocatello in June and Lion E. L. Smith, first vice-president, was named on the motion of Lion J. C. Smith. A lion statuette, engraved with the name of President Moody, coming to him in recognition of what this club had done in the recent Lions membership drive, was presented by the secretary, together with bronze medallions issued to Lions O. C. Koch, J. R. Murdock jr., E. L. Smith and Rudolph Nielsen for their work as individual members. The matter of a clean-up and paint-up campaign coming before the meeting, Lions George Jefferson, Jeffer-son, Val Yepsen and Frank A. Stewart was named to take the matter up with the proper authorities authori-ties and other organizations and see it through. Clyde Tervort, superintendent of the Milford CCC camp, and Jay Thompson, camp educational director, were guests at the meeting meet-ing and spoke briefly. |
