Show Farm Debt Man Reports For County Ray L. I.illywhite, assistant super-: visor of farm-debt adjustment work in Utah, representing the governor's committee, was in Beaver on Thursday Thurs-day and Friday of last week and makes the following report regarding regard-ing the work in Beaver county: S. 0. White of Beaver, J. C. Smith of Milford and George Marshall of Minersville are the men in Beaver county appointed by the governor to assist farmers who are in difficult debt circumstances. They represent a high type of community citizen and are men who have a very fine attitude at-titude of public service. Their services ser-vices are available to debt-burdened armers or their creditors, absolutely lee, rendering services for which t'iey receive no remuneration. The conciliation commissioner of Beaver county reports having handled several arm debt cnses in the conciliation court. He also reports that these case-- might easily have been settled by a farm-debt adjustment committee, commit-tee, had they been taken there first, which would have eliminated court proceedings and the costs attached thereto. i Mr. Lillywhite suggests the following- procedure for farm-debtors who are confronted with foreclosure or who have extremely difficult debt problems: First, meet your principal creditors and try to arrange a settlement settle-ment with . them; second, go to a member of the local farm-debt adjustment ad-justment committee and ask his help and advice, which is recognized by .-reditors the country oyer; third and last, if these methods fail, apply for debtors relief with the concilation commissioner, who has legal authority author-ity and who can enforce decisions. o |
