Show o GET SOMETHING FOR YOUR MONEY In spite of the wave of building we passed through after the war, reliable figures indicate that 67 per cent of the dwellings in the country a total of over 14,000,000 structures were erected more than ten years ago. What this means is that there isn't as serions an overproduction overprod-uction of homes as is generally believed. There are millions of dwellings which have gone to pieces to the extent that they should be torn down and replaced; millions more need extensive alterations altera-tions and repairs to make them comfortable and attractive. There was never a better time to build, never a better time to repair and replace. Materials of all kinds are at unprecedented low price levels.. Millions of people have money to spend. They could, with great profit to themselves, invest a few hundred dollars to improve im-prove their property and at the same time give employment which would start other business and create more employment all over the country. Construction dollars create an endless circle of purchasing pur-chasing power. It might be well to remember that jobs are cheaper than charity and that without jobs for all there soen won't be anything any-thing left for charity. You get a great return on the money you spend on your property now and it will act as a tonic to the nation. If a million of us join in a property betterment campaign, the depression de-pression will be licked. If we don't, our savings and earnings will be absorbed in non-productive charity. i ri |
