Show Ex-Service Men of County Meet Here The local I. O. O. F. hall was the scene Saturday night of a large gathering of Beaver county ex-ser-. vice men, the affair being one of the best held since this all-service men's organization for Beaver county was effected. It had been planned to hold a meeting of the service men before the banquet but this was found impractical, due to the late arrival ar-rival of the guest speaker, j Dr. Charles R. Parrish of Milford I acted as toastmaster at the banquet ; and Ray R. Adams of the Veterans' j bureau of the national reemployment I service, as the speaker of the eve-j eve-j ning, discussed in detail veterans' ; legislation. He paid high tribute to j Congressman Abe Murdock for his i stand against the national economy act as it referred to the veterans. Mr. Adams complimented the Milford Mil-ford American Legion Auxiliary, under un-der the direction of Mrs. Rudolph Nielsen, president, for its success in the child welfare program. Mrs. Nielsen later stated that the Auxiliary Auxil-iary had been responsible for corrective correc-tive work in at least 200 cases.. He also complimented the ex-service ! men of the county for their interest ' in the Junior league baseball, stating I 3300 boys in the state of Utah were eligible to participate in this essential essen-tial activity. Short talks were given by Mayor O. F. Hubbell, Milford; Thomas Martin, Mar-tin, Milford, Spanish-American war veteran; Dr. E. A. Petty, Beaver, past American Legion commander; State Senator George Jefferson, Milford; Mil-ford; W. G. White,' Milford V. F. W. commander; Stan McKnight, Minersville Miners-ville American Legion commander; Joseph A. Manzione, Beaver, past V. F. W. commander; Mrs. Nielsen, Mrs. Val Yeppson, Milford, V. F. W. Auxiliary vice-president; Mrs. Kate Joseph of Beaver, American Legion Auxiliary president; Mrs. Ada Tat-tersall, Tat-tersall, Beaver, V. F. W. Auxiliary president; J. C. Root and Ben Lewis, ex-service men of" Milford. |
