Show LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL BUMPS DELTA TEAM The finale of the Milford high school's home basketball games was played Friday evening, when the local lo-cal lads brole the hearts of the visiting visit-ing Delta crew and won by a one-point one-point margin, 30 to 29. The game marked the last home appearance of the senior members of the squad. Captain Schow was forced to watch the game from the sidelines as he was incapacitated by a broken thumb. Webb sang his swan song, and a tuneful air it was, as he spent a busy forty minutes sinking baskets from all spots on the floor. Delta had a lead of 16 to 13 at the half and maintained such a margin mar-gin till the last quarter was dying. Two free throws gave the visiting team an opportunity to tie the score in the last minute but one pitch was missed. Milford plays Minersville tonight and goes to Fillmore next Friday, where they close the season. A disastrous dis-astrous trip north about wrecked the locals chrance of copping the regional hunting, but there has been no scrappier scrap-pier team seen on the local floor this year. Close guarding against heavier heav-ier opponents has featured the Hill-toppers' Hill-toppers' play all season. Delta journeyed on to Minersville Saturday, where they overcame their opponents in their other Beaver coun. ty game, and so are still in the running run-ning for the championship. They are a game behind Fillmore, who has lost but one . |
