Show Chapel Burial Place of Headsman's Victims The Itoyal chapel of St. Peter-and Vinculo, in the Tower, in London, wae consecrated early in the Twelfth century cen-tury though hut little of the original fabric remains. The chapel Is interesting inter-esting as being the burial place ot those persons eminent enough to have been accorded the "privilege" of beinc executed within the Tower walls Here, says Stow: "There lyeth be-rore be-rore the high altar two dukes between two queens, to wit, the duke of Somer set and the duke of Northumberland between Queen Anne (Boleyn) and Queen Kutherine (Howard) all four beheaded." Here also are curled Lady Jane Grey and Lord Guilford Dudley, the duke of Monmouth, and the Scottish lords Kilmarnock, Balmerino, and Lovat, beheaded- for their share in the rebellion of 17-15. |
