Show . u DISCLAIMS POLITICAL BUNK Distribution of anonymous circulars has started in many sections of the state, and voters are urged by Carl R. Marcusen, chairman of the Republican State Committee in Salt Lake City, to be on their guard for unsigned messages. "There are real and fundamental issues in this campaign cam-paign and vital principles of government at stake and I feel confident that the intelligent voters of Utah Will not let anonymous messages, unsubstantial and unwarranted statements, state-ments, obscure the real issues," says Mr. Marcusen. "The Republican party brings this matter to the attention of the people only to warn them so that they may discount these unsigned messages and be on their guard against such methods of campaigning." The News feels that, once anonymous messages misrepresenting mis-representing the issues to the voter get widely circulated, repudation of them by either political party does little good in counteracting the harm wrought. But that is about all that the party can do and the disclaiming of responsibility responsibili-ty by the party heads is well meant. |
