Show SPEED VS. RECKLESS DRIVING With the completion of the oiled highway between Milford and Minersville increased speed with most of the traffic is noticeable. notice-able. Gx)d roads are built to speed up traffic, and fast driving is much safer than on unimproved roads. But the difference between be-tween fast driving and reckless driving, is the difference that causes accidents. The driver who keeps to the right side of the road, who slows down, on curves and in passing other vehicles, may be considered a careful driver although hei may "step it up" to a high speed on the straightways where he has a clear vision. At least he is endangering no one but himself. On the contrary there is the driver who is first on one side of the road and. then the other, "steps on it" in passing other cars, and pays little.at-t( little.at-t( ntion to slowing down at curves or intersection. This is the class of driving that menaces all others using the highway. Good judgement rather than reduced speed is: the requirements in mfiny states, with little or no leniency toward the reckless driver. With the elimination of the reckless driver and the enforcement of correct lights on all cars and horse-driven vehicles, the hazzard of driving on the Beaver-Milford highway Would be greatly improved. im-proved. The Milford and Beaver Lions clubs are to be commended commend-ed on their recent acttion in requesting that the road be patroled in an effort to curb the reckless and careless driver as well as for the enforcement of correct lighting on carsand vehicles. |
