Show DEAD FWT POLLUTE IRRIGATED VALLEY Millions of Suckers and Carp Are Stranded When Waters Are . Shut Off An offensive condition has been prevailing pre-vailing in the Beaver river for the nrt ronp'e of wenks, with the channel chan-nel of the stream filled with dead fish. Irrigation from the Rocky Ford reservoir ceased for the year on Sept. 1st, at which time the locks of the dam were closed. This caused millions of fish to nerish. These fish are virtually all suckers and carp, which originally came into the stream from the outlet of the dam. For a distance of several hundred yards from the dam on down the river, the creek bed is choked with decaying fish millions of them. The same i condition came up last fall, but not nearly so bad as this year. Dr. C. R. Parrish got busy this week to clean out the river bed. He believes that the annual condition j creates a serious menace to public health in the valley, and proposes to J flood the decaying matter out. Mr. Robinson, the superintendent at the dam, when quizzed as to whether he knew what steps would be taken, said that he knew nothing 'about it. An attempt was made by Beaver parties a couple weeks ago to seine the waters of the reservoir and thus remove the annual nuisance, but they gave it up as a bad job, after lifting out tons of fish and making no noticeable notice-able impression on the fish population of the lake.
