Show SCHOOL OPENS WITH GOOD ENROLLMENT Principal M. J. Andrews Reports A Wholesale Spirit . Prevailing Prevail-ing in Student Body. Several Changes Wide Variety of Extra Curri-cular Curri-cular Activities Will Command Interest of Students. Milford schools got underway Monday Mon-day with registration and classes begun be-gun Tuesday. A strong faculty has been hired this year, with no department depart-ment being slighted. The enrollment for the senior high school stood at S6 this week with the total figure expected ex-pected to be 90. There are 15 members mem-bers of the senior class this year. Principal Andrews states that a good, wholesome spirit prevails among the I students as they settle down to the j year's work, which augurs well for a successful school year. CHANGES Several changes over former procedures pro-cedures have been made at the high school this year. The periods will be of forty-five minutes duration instead of fifty, except from 1 to 2, which will be an hour period. School begins at' 9 instead of at 8:45, and closes at 3:30. These hours are uniform thru-out thru-out the county. Each Friday, assemb-H- is held from 1:30 to 2., instead of Friday mrnings. The program for Vse assemblies is as follows: 1st Friday of the month, clubs meet; 2nd Friday, classes meet in classrooms or assembly; 3rd Friday, student body affairs; last Friday of the month, a nrogram for the students and the public. Home Rule The inaugural of a plan called 'home rule' is made here this year. This is "of a general nature and is for the personal welfare of the students. . On Friday mornings, just before noon, the separate classes meet with their advisors, and individual problems of the students are discussed with - the teacher and sympathetic advice given. The home rule plan takes up the correction cor-rection of tardiness, undue absences, discussion of school parties, and other things not strictly of a classroom nature. Clubs Two clubs are being formed, Literature & Music, and Science & Arts. Students may join either or both. The organizations of the classes class-es and election of student officers will be consummated soon. It is the intention of the school to put on a school play and one or tw operas this year, which will likely be presented in some nearby town as well as in Milford. Mil-ford. Football Boys are greatly interested now jh football. Coach Pollard had a group, of 20 out fixing up the athletic field the other day. The candidates for the team will be .out in suit the . latter part of this week. The schedule is not made up yet and will not be given out for two or three weeks. |
