Show J. C. PENNEY CO. BUYS OUT CHAINS DEAL INCREASES STOKES TO 1212 M. II. Pool, manager of the J. C. l'eimcy company bus received word that his organization has announced the purelia.se of the J. B. Byars company, com-pany, including the W. J. Lindsay cumpuny recently purchased by the iiyars company, and the J. N. Mc-Crucken Mc-Crucken company; the two operating 117 Golden Itule stores in the western states. The J. B. liyars company, composed compos-ed of 101 depurtment stores, has their generul office In Denver, Colorado, Colo-rado, and purchasing office in St. Louis. The J. N. McCracken company operates op-erates 15 stores in Montana, and one in North Dakota, with headquarters in Livingston, Mont. ' Theso stores carry a similar line of merchandise as the J. C. Penney company com-pany and, with very few exceptions, are in towns not occupied by them. The J. C. Penney company standard storo fronts and regulation fixtures will be installed. The new stores are being taken over ov-er as of January 1, 192'J, and the entire personnel will be retained as far as possible. With the addition of these chains, tho total number of J. C. Penney cumpuny stores is 1212. |
