Show WOMEN TENNIS PLAYERS SHOW THEIR STUFF U A field of thirty-two contestants witnessed some real battlers this past week. All but two players have been eliminated. Miss Mildred Killam meets Mrs. Homer Root in the final match for the championship. Interest in the contests has been quite extraordinary, but it was merited. mer-ited. All of the players deserve credit. Especially do we recall Miss Eva Coleman's three set victory over Miss Lucile Carter, Miss Barbara Johnson's plucky battle against Miss Gladys Coleman, and Miss Bessie Killam's game with Mrs. Root. In the semi-final matches, Miss Mildred Killam defeated Miss Gladys Coleman Cole-man by scores of 6-2, 6-3. Miss Root won from Miss Eva Coleman after a hectic struggle by score of 12-10, 9-7. We congratulate the payers who are new at the game. Without exception they are displaying fine progress. It j has been a very satisfactory tourna-j tourna-j ment ,and we are proud of the ladies. |
