Show WOMEN'S WORK Report of Work Done by the Women Of Millard County in 1930 Three hundred fifty-four women paid one dollar each into the Farm Bureau to pay expenses of specialists in the county; 50c of each $1 was used in this way. As a special privilege the College allowed us to have the work by paying pay-ing for the expenses from this fund for the one year. Mrs. Otte, the clothing specialist, was in the county from May 3 0 until July 1. We placed Mrs. Otte in every town regardless of whether they were organized or not. In that month she had a total attendance of 1,907 ladies at her classes, where suits were cleaned and pressed, dresses and coats made and remodeled with a saving to the women of the county of two thousand nine hundred eighty-nine eighty-nine dollars and thirty-five cents ($2,989.35). This is a conservative estimate of the actual work which came under the supervision of the specialists. We have no account of the work the women did themselves. The women liked Mrs. Otte's work so well we asked for her again, with the result that she was here for two weeks from Sept. 1 to 15, with a saving to the women of $2,317.35. Miss Rosina Skidmore, the clothing cloth-ing and millinery specialist, was here from Oct. 10 to 22. Total meetings held by her were 16, with an attendance attend-ance of 178, Fifty-nine hats were made with a saving of $279. Thirteen dress forms were made, and many of the women have made their own hats and dress Lorms since. The weather was so bad during the time Miss Skidmore stayed here in the county that the attendance was poor, but a great deal of work was accomplished by those who were able to attend. We hope that the Commissioners will see that the women are anxious for the work, and that it is of a real worth and saving to the women of this county. The specialists were not even allowed al-lowed to rest in their hotel rooms at night, so anxious were the women for the work and for help with their problems. This summary Is taken from the reports t le specialists made to send to the College, to tell of their work, MRS. H. G. OTTLEYi County Chairman of the Women's Work. |
