Show The Grand Central Highway The Grand Central Highway is shown in the above map as running from the Juab County line just north of Lynudyl, to Lynndyl, thence to Delta, thence into Hinckley; on this portion about $40,000 wai voted. Thence out of Hinckley the road runs west to the Nevada line; on that portion only $20,000 was voted, of which $10,000 has already been spent. On the strength of carrying out the bond issue, L. H. Kimball went over to Baker, Nevada, over'that road, making the trip there and back in one day; he saw the possibilities of the road and cooperated with the Commissioners Com-missioners of Millard County to have the Commissioners of Juab put in the connecting link out of Eureka, shown on our map just to the right, or east, of the railroad down to Lynndyl; and on the evidence that good faith would be kept by one county with the other, his father, cashier of the Eureka Banking Company, loaned Juab County $30,000 to build that link in the total road. That is one reacon why faith should be kept. Another reason why faith should be kept is that Lynndyl, Delta and Hinckley contain more people to travel over that portion of the Great Central Cen-tral Highway that all of the east side. Still another reason is that we are today assessing $3,000,000 worth of sheep between Hinckley and the Nevada line, transient herds, whose owners trade about an apron full with Deseret, all the rest of it with Milford, Ely and Montieello, BECAUSE OF NO ROADS TO HINCKLEY, DESERET AND DELTA on which they can travel. We want that trade, and therefore we faith kept regarding the Grand Central Highway. Note the Arrow Trail from Juab, over the Big Dam, into Scipio, thence to Holden and int oFillmore; that road, with the Delta-Holden road, gives the east side access by first-class roads everywhere; they are well taken care of and we want faith kept with us to give us the roads they and we voted should be given us. See the Delta-Holden highway, coming out of Hinckley through Oasis, to the Loan Tree; It is met there by the pole road out of Delta, a straight line south; then due east to the hillside, and then Into McCornick; at the bend at the Haw Bush, see the Cedar Mountain road built extra for Fillmore, Fill-more, cutting out Holden. Now it is suggested that all further work be suspended on the Grand Central, and that Cedar Mountain road and ramifications under the mountain moun-tain toward the sinks, etc., and the. Arrow Trail be given the remaining sum' of money. ' Besides being illegal, it is not keeping faith. If attempted. Injunctions will he served enjoiningthe County Commissioners Commis-sioners from diverting what was voted to what was not voted on. It can be solved. There is a way. Fairness and justness will point the course. Follow it and find the way. |
