Show CHANGES AT RANK The directors of the Delta State Bank met February 24th, when James. A. Melville, president of the institution since its incepts ., tendered ten-dered his resignation, which was accepted, ac-cepted, and Bishop H. K. Maxfield was elected to that office. This change was necessitated by Mr. Melville having many interests in Texas and elsewhere requiring his absence from Delta, and rather than neglect the bank he sought to have another fill the place, the duties of which would keep him here. Uncle Jim, for many years referred to as the "Father of the Delta Country," has a long string of friends, who are reluctant to see him retire, but as he has made his, he need no longer pioneer it with us, roughing his way along. The best wishes of all go with him. Will Starley and Peter A. Gron-ning Gron-ning were elected directors, one to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation resig-nation of Mr. Melville, and the other to fill Henry Baab's place. The institution is very sound financially. |
